Tropical Enzymes smoothing peel by Elizabeth Renee is a gentle exfoliating home peel that won't upset sensitive skin.  It uses enzymes from papayas and pineapples to disolve dead surface cells instead of rough textured scruby particles or irritating acids.  Tropical Enzymes dissolve layers of old, dull, worn out cells leaving skin looking fresh and smooth. 

  • Who should use it:

    Thinner, sensitive or easily irritated skin that can't tolerate stronger exfoliants will benefit from this gentle exfoliating peel. Tropical Enzymes will help you achieve smoother skin while encouraging production of newer cells.

  • Why you need it:

    Every time the surface layers of the skin are removed a message gets sent down to the basement cell layer telling it to step up production of new skin cells.  With enzymes you are not doing this by radically distroying the cells.  Instead, you are sending enzymes (chemical messangers) that nudge the skin into purging these old cells.  This gentlier, less aggressive way to remove dead cell layers avoids irritation that often happen with sensitive skin.  At the same time, Tropical Enzymes soften and condition the skin with beeswax and avocado oil. Tapioca starch is also used to draw in moisture and hydrate the skin.

    • Enzymes from Pumpkin, Papaya and Pineapple - Enzymes are substances that enhance a particular chemical process, essentially they acts as catalysts for a reaction in the body.  These enzymes unglue the bonds between dead skin cells, which causes skin to exfoliate and slough off.  And they do this without disrupting the pH of your skin - reducing redness and irritation.

  • How to use it:

    Sensitive skins should consider useing this peel once a week. Use immediately following a thorough cleansing and toning. Apply a thin layer of this creamy peel all over your face and allow to set for 3 - 5 minutes depending on sensitivity levels. Avoid the eye area.  Remove with a slightly warm wash cloth. Finish by rinsing thoroughly. You may need to tone again to remove the last traces of the peel.  This peel is perfect when followed by a corrective serum such as Hydraessence or Seawhip Soothing Lotion and a hydrating masque like Azulene Soothing Masque.  This will leave your skin feeling dewy, moist, smooth and comfortable. Slight tingling may occur from the papaya and pumpkin; however, redness should not occur.
